Reflection Questions:Reflect and respond to EACH of the following questions.Regarding the Post-TANIC Self-Assessment for this week, how does your competency level compare to the Week 2 Self-Assessment?
Which two competencies do you think may benefit you in your future role as an APN and why?
As discussed in the lesson this week, healthcare providers must be competent in informatics in order to make ethical decisions about informatics technologies and patients’ intimate healthcare data and information. To the extent that information technology is reshaping healthcare practices or promises to improve patient care, healthcare professionals must possess certain competencies which will assist with consistency and quality. Which two competencies did you achieve in this course? Explain.PRE TANIC SELF ASSESSMENT AND REFLECTION 1Informatics refers to the study of behavior, structures, and the interaction of nature through the conduction of representation, processing, and the communication of natural information (Collins et al, 2017). Informatics includes the health informatics that involves the inclusion of people and technology, the use of data and information to improve the quality of patient care, and deliver better health care services, for instance, the use of the electronic medical record. The competence level before the self-assessment in the pre-TANIC-assessment compared to after self-assessment was not adequate, meaning that the nurses had few abilities concerning informatics competence (Honey et al, 2017). In my case, I grew up with technology all around me. Being born in this new informatic world has benefited me a lot. Things I do in my everyday life for example sending an email or upload a file are considered informatics competent. Now other people find it extremely difficult to just open a computer, and I still find it difficult to learn new informatics and technology in the workplace. There are two types of clinical competence roles: basic computer skills and informatics knowledge skills, which help analyze the collected information and improve healthcare quality in the health care system. The competencies enable the nurses to be aware of the areas and performance levels they are supposed to improve (Kwak et al, 2017). They also make the nurses aware of the behaviors that are valued, rewarded, and recognized by the organization.
There are two resources required to develop a strategic plan for the competence skills using technology, which helps to save time and has a wide variety of information and a mentor’s use. Mentors help the nurses to achieve their set goals through motivation and rewarding their good performance. The most important resources required for informatics are the SWOT analysis resources and porter’s five force resources (Sensmeier et al, 2017). The SWOT analysis gets used to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. In contrast, porter’s five forces resources get used to deal with the forces that challenge an organization and improve business success. To enact the improvement plan, the nurses should engage in the new project and attend training seminars.
