It also offers individuals who are not able to obtain health insurance through their employer the opportunity to access quality healthcare. The affordable care act also sets rules for health insurance firms and healthcare plans. For instance, health insurance firms cannot withhold someone coverage because of a pre-existing condition nor can they set premiums based on someone’s medical condition. The affordable care unit also supports Medicaid, a program that provides access to medical care for individuals with limited incomes for instance those with disabilities and older people. Medicaid expansion permits more individuals who are unable to find affordable plans with private insurance firms, to access quality coverage and essential services.Impact of the policy on system implementation.
Coverage Impact: A fully implemented affordable care act would lead to a decrease in the number of uninsured, primarily because of the Medicaid expansion but also because of lower premiums (Keisling, 2019). Initially, there would be a decrease in the uninsured of high number of people. Another impact of this policy is medical productivity and would lead to a decrease in medical productivity. Provider Access is another major impact due to the affordable care act would lead to an increase in provider access by 16 percent (Keisling, 2019). Another impact would be on the budget. The scenario is expected to increase spending billions of money between 2020 and 2029.Impact of the policy on clinical care, provider interaction and work flow.Huge number of the population is expected to gain health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, and a sizable workforce will be required to meet the increased demand (The Heritage Foundation, 2014).The health care workforce is already facing shortage of health professionals over the next years. This breaks the promises of access and quality of care of the population by escalating the shortage and increasing the burden on the already fragile system. With the affordable care policy, combined with shortages of workers, patients will be delayed, limited access to providers, shortened time with caregivers, and decreased satisfaction. The health care workforce is facing increased instability, and a major redesign of the workforce is needed to extend care to millions of people.Organizational Policies at my Healthcare organization
At my healthcare organization, several organizational policies and procedures are in place to address the Affordable Care Act which came into effect on March 23, 2010. These policies are tailored to address the Affordable care act through tracking various changes in organizational structures and the resources, addressing any human rights issues emerging from the organization and handling any internal complaints. Therefore, these organizational policies and procedures will include the constant updating of workers regarding the progress in adhering to the policy. Additionally, educating the workers in a healthcare organization regarding the implementation of the Affordable Care Act would be a notable procedure (KFF, 2013). Moreover, my healthcare organization can offer education to the healthcare workers and the visitors seeking assistance on health acquaint themselves with the benefits of the Affordable Care Act such as insurance covers.Conclusion
