Application Discussion #1: Theories of Social and Personality Development
The different classical theories of social and personality development offer different explanations for how people come to be who they are. Imagine a hypothetical teen who is in court and who is about to be sentenced to jail for a serious crime. Choose two of the theories in this chapter and offer two contrasting hypothetical explanations, based on your chosen theories of “what went wrong.”

Consider the following vignette and share your ideas, based on your readings for Week 2:
You are on a research team interested in studying the effects of children’s screen time on particular aspects of their social skill development. What variables would you focus on? What research method and design would you use for this study, and why? What ethical considerations would you need to keep in mind?
