When humans are involved in communication, it is impossible to be completely objective. Communicating across cultures poses further difficulty, particularly when communicating with those who are unfamiliar to us. Being aware of our own culture, including our personal identities as part of that culture, is crucial to self-reflection and connecting with others when communicating globally. Understanding how intersectionality and positionality affect us in our global communication can have a significant impact on how we interact with one another across international borders, often improving our communications with those from different corners of the world.
In your initial post, describe a few examples of your own positionality in a short list. Discuss how your unique positionality could impact global communication efforts. This impact could be either positive, negative, or a combination of both, depending on your perspective and on any social advantages or disadvantages you believe your positionality may have.
