Assessment Description
During the recovery phase of a disaster, many individuals, families, and small businesses suffer the most devastating damage. It is important for emergency managers to know and understand state and federal programs that are available to assist them in recovery. It is also important to know the types of assistance designed to meet community needs.
Identify two federal, state, or local individual assistance (IA) program recovery sources and two federal, state, or local public assistance (PA) program recovery sources. These sources could include funding, grants, rebuilding resources, etc.
Write a brief summary for each of the four sources (IA and PA) for a total of 450-500 words.
Your summaries should include:
1. A brief overview of the recovery program. What department or organization administers it? Is it a grant or loan? What is needed to access the program (e.g., presidential disaster declaration). What is the process for applying for the recovery program?
2. Eligibility for recovery assistance (e.g., small business, income level).
3. Amount of financial aid available and any matching funds needed.
4. Explain other important information, such as future obligations, as a result of receiving the grant.
