Willer’s TED Talk was given in 2016. Shortly after, this assignment was given in another class, and in discussion it was discovered/realized that there is always a reason why “buddy cops” come together in the end: they are forced to work together to defeat a common enemy. This class’s discovery gave a sad tone to this video, because it suggests that we will need some sort of major disaster (perhaps a global pandemic?!) to bring us together. Fast-forward to today, we now have a major common enemy, and yet the result seems to be quite the opposite. Do you agree that the Coronavirus pandemic has driven people further apart?
