Generic Analysis and Translation
Name
Institution AffiliationThe importance of generic analysis in translation involves assisting in making translators be aware that varying professional genres need restructuring steps that are different. The generic analysis assist the translator keep in mind the target and source text prior to starting the translation, be mindful of the context situation that assists in forming the target text and recognize the role “generic structure” that plays during the start of the target text construction process (Biel, 2017). By being aware of the target text generic characteristics, the translator is able to organize its structure and chose the suitable expressions and words in an effective and efficient way. Genre analysis is also important in helping in the translation of professional texts. During this translation, most people are tempted to focus more on analysis of vocabulary, sound, meaning and grammar and rarely see the importance of genre analysis and there is a probability during the translation, its genre is changed. However, having the generic analysis in mind the genre is maintained. An example of generic analysis is its application in preparation of translators resources. These comprise of genre-based corpora and generic templates applied during the process of translation (Gambier, 2009). An example of the resource is DIY (ad hoc, disposable) corpora that are genre-based and built by translators quickly through web harvesting and analyzed to complete translation assignment.
In my opinion, literal translation theory is the best because according to the theory, a translation should not be regarded as a linguistic endeavor rather aa literally one. The energy of language is portrayed through words which are as a product of culture experience and therefore the translator should focus on this because it’s what gives it strength as well as meaningReferences
