 teachers must ensure that the assessment approaches used measure the extent of the disability rather than the child’s English language skills. IDEA states that tests and other evaluation procedures must not discriminate on a racial or cultural basis and mandates that assessments must be provided and administered in the child’s native language or another mode of communication unless it is clearly not feasible to do so.
