ANSWER THIS QUESTION 250 WORDS MIN What does Locke mean by property of objects? RESPONSE TO THESE POST 100 WORDS MIN EACH1.   For this week’s question I have chosen: What exactly is Empiricism?  Please provide specific examples to support your answer.
My understanding of Empiricism is that it is a philosophical belief that states that your knowledge of the world is based on you sense-experience. Meaning that everything that we have learned and know has come from one of our senses and how we perceive that information. This is sometimes contrasted with rationalism which is the philosophy that knowledge comes from logic.  Also there are different degrees of empiricism (i.e. Absolute, Substantive, and Partial)
One example of Empiricism is from an article I’ve read. It is the saying “Call it what you will, it’s about getting up off your chair, going where the action is, and seeing things firsthand (David Sturt)”. He is basically telling us that instead of believing something just because it makes sense from thinking through it we should go out and “experience” it for ourselves to get our own truth.
Second example would be RPG (Role Playing Games) such as Call of Duty, Fallout, Skyrim, Final Fantasy and more. They6 let players roam around and find certain items to make better amour or anything. These games are more trial and error than anything. How many time, if you play video games, have you had to restart multiple time just to get one part of the game right? That’s why games of this sort are perfect examples of Empiricism because you have to learn from repeated and repeated experimentation rather than going into the game and weirdly know what to do and where to go.2.  Empiricists believe that there is limits to our knowledge of reality, because the mortal life is finite. There is a beginning, a middle, and an end and because of this truth, even our knowledge of reality- or what we perceive it to be- must be finite.
The Empiricist doctrine is composed of a materialistic approach to the world. What you see is what you get, so from their perspective, their is nothing more than mere experience, suggesting a limitation.
John Locke stated, ” Knowledge is perception of the agreement or disagreement of our ideas.” His ideas created four types of knowledge and three methods in obtaining them; the four types of knowledge: Identity and Diversity, Co-existence, Relation and Real Existence and the three methods of obtaining them: Intuitively, Demonstratively and Sensitively.
The human potential to learn is very limited as can be observed, if it were not, then we wouldn’t be making a limited number of ways of obtaining knowledge.
Thomas Hobbes specialized in the categorical approach of human nature composing in empiricism. The actions of people are motivated by their selflessness and greed. Are these the outputs of the inner human essence?
John Locke believed in substance, nominal essences and real essences. He argued that you can never fully discover the existence of the real essence, or the primary principle conforming an entity. This is another limitation on the knowledge of reality.
The primary principle of the Empiricists states that all of our sensory experiences comprises our reality and our existence.  Yet, a deer smells better than a human. What are they smelling that I can’t smell?
