Imagery and Knowledge [WLO: 1] [CLO: 3]

Imagery (Links to an external site.)  is defined by Literary Devices (n.d.) as the “means to use figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses.” Imagery evokes mental representations of objects or things such as Voldemort in a Harry Potter book (p.1).

For this discussion post you will provide one example of your favorite scene from a book or movie. Then, describe the scene using as many verbal cues as possible (do not include pictures). Finally, address the following questions:

· Which parts of your chosen scene were easy to convey via words?

· Which parts of your chosen scene were hard to convey via words?

Using the readings and videos from this week, elaborate why visual imagery may have its uses and limitations when sharing something of which you have knowledge.

Be sure to use your own  Academic Voice (Links to an external site.)  and apply in-text citations appropriately throughout your post. The  In-Text Citation Helper: A Guide to Making APA In-Text Citations (Links to an external site.)  tutorial can clarify further questions you might have on APA.

Guided Response: Respond to two of your classmates’ posts. Describe at least one connection you made with your classmates about the scenes they shared in their post. Identify something that stood out to you from the verbal imagery your classmate shared.

For deeper engagement and learning, you are encouraged to provide responses to any comments or questions others have given to you. Remember, continuing to engage with peers and the instructor will further the conversation and provide you with opportunities to demonstrate your content expertise, critical thinking, and real-world experiences with this topic.
