POLI 111 US GOVT. AND POLITICSPaper Requirements:

• Students will pick a US Supreme Court ruling on one of the following topics: Federalism, First Amendment, Voting Rights.
• It will be approximately 5 pages in length (excluding cover page and work cited page), Arial, Font 12, double spaced, 1” margins.Structure of assignment:
1. Problems/causes that led to the case. What are the facts; issue/controversy; and case history?
2. The Constitutional question raised by the participants in the case. What were the relevant precedents?
3. The Supreme Court’s majority decision and any dissenting opinion.
4. Student Reflection on the significance and impact of the case and on which side do they think presented the stronger argument? Why?
